Bring your laptop and learn what you need to know to get into the diplomatic-humanitarian translation market.

Opportunities to be included in Spanish Solutions‘ future projects: We are eager to expand our team in Córdoba given the upsurge in translation assignments we have experienced in the last few years and the quality of local professionals.

Program
1. Introduction to humanitarian/military forces
2. A teamwork approach assisted by SDL Trados Studio™
3. Practical experience processing and translating relevant Word and Powerpoint documents

Participation

  • Hands-on: directed to translators with a proven track-record (at least 2 years) in the use of Trados and other CAT tools interested in the diplomatic/military/humanitarian fields. Classes will include theory and practice with real world documents. We will foster active participation through Q&As, and feedback from our senior PM/Editor will be part of the learning process.
  • Observer: directed to senior FL-UNC grad students (in the last year of the Translation B.A.), fresh graduates and other idoneous students. We encourage Observers to consider taking part of future seminars as full hands-on participants.

Requirements for Hands-on Participants
-2 years of experience as a translator
-Availability to review all materials received by email BEFORE the course
-Laptop with SDL Trados Studio™ (trial or full version) and Microsoft Office™ 2010 or later
-Vast experience with Microsoft Office™ Word/Excel/Powerpoint (2010 or later)
-Experience managing files and converting documents from PDF to Word or Powerpoint formats
-Experience using SDL Trados Studio™ (intermediate level) / Certificate of completion of a Trados Studio™ Course
-Résumé including: academic background, relevant work experience, CAT Tools knowledge, availability, and/or experience working in the international arena or diplomatic world*

Requirements for Oberservers
-Directed to FL-UNC grad students in the last year of the Translation B.A., fresh graduates and other idoneous students
